Laser Clay Pigeon Shooting
The art of shooting at flying targets, known as clay pigeons, has been practiced in this country since the 19th century. However it has only been since 1921, when competitions using live pigeons were made illegal, that the sport has developed into a popular activity. In fact, it is one of the country’s fastest growing sports.
The latest development has been the introduction of ‘laser’ technology that allows as many as five participants to shoot at the same clay target, all at the same time. The sport can be played just for fun, or as a serious competition either in teams or as individuals.
Using authentic but deactivated 12-bore shotguns, instead of cartridges the guns fire a harmless infrared beam at re-usable clays launched from an automatic trap; and as there is no recoil even children can have a go, without any danger to themselves, other participants or spectators.
Since being introduced in the early 1990s, this relatively new development in the sport provides the opportunity for everybody to experience the thrill and excitement of traditional clay pigeon shooting, but in total safety, and without any waste or threat to the environment.
Whenever a trigger is pulled a control module linked to a scoreboard generates the shotgun ‘bang’ and when a player hits the target it reproduces the sound of a breaking clay pigeon. Instead of being destroyed when ‘hit’, a radio transmitter in each gun sends information back to a digital scoreboard, with players accumulating points based on a combination of speed and accuracy.
Being totally safe, laser clay pigeon shooting can be played virtually anywhere, day or night. For evening events, luminous clays are used to create a bright green path across the night sky; and flash attachments fitted to the shotguns create a spectacular ‘flash’ each time a clay target is hit. Even the sound is totally controllable, which means that whether the sport is played in town or country, it is compatible with the surroundings.
Laser clay pigeon shooting is available as either hourly, half-day or full-day sessions, and is suitable for those aged 8 and over. No previous experience is required, with complete beginners able to participate alongside seasoned shots.
With five people shooting at any one time this activity is as equally suited to large groups as it is to smaller numbers, when a choice of shooting positions (down-the-line, skeet, overhead) offers variety and challenge.
Five laser rifles - plastic clay is released and a laser beam is fired from each of the rifles. Nothing shatters or explodes - much more environmentally friendly. Scoring done by electronic score console. Full supervision & training given by attendant.
